Fashion magazine, doll parts, paint on masonite - 50x75x6cm. The title refers to the well known Marie Claire fashion magazine that manipulates women to buy products >< it also makes comment about a girl, Mary Clare, who may have been a victim of violence. The meaning of "Tool" in this context is twofold: magazine ads as tools to manipulate, females as tools ("fool" in Irish slang). Submitted to EVA-09

The Siblings

Rocks, thread, leaves, found items - 25x35cm. The deeper my understanding of family issues becomes, the more real this work becomes. Her my siblings and I are represented by leaves that have grown out of the rocky ground. Each is represented by a symbolic object save the eldest, who is crossed off .
